Vietnamese honey loved in foreign markets

(VEN) - According to the Vietnamese Beekeepers Association (VBA), Vietnamese businesses exported more than 27,000 tonnes of honey to 14 countries and territories in the first seven months of 2014, two countries more than 2013, including many hard-to-please markets like Australia and Mongolia.

The US remained the biggest importer of Vietnamese honey as it imported more than 25,000 tonnes of honey from Vietnam in the first seven months of this year, accounting for 95 percent of Vietnam’s total honey export value in the same period.
By the end of 2013, with more than 1.5 hives, Vietnam became one of the world’s five biggest honey exporters. The country exported more than 38,000 tonnes of honey in 2013. After six years of halt in honey export to the EU, Vietnamese businesses exported honey to this market again from 2013.
